Youssef wants to hear his mom.

My family was shattered few weeks back since my 12  month old son has been diagnosed with Bilateral profound hearing loss which is irreversible and brain white matter issues as well. Since then we have taken multiple consultations .
Course of Treatment has started for my son which includes Physiotherapy for developmental delays caused by Brain White matter, medicines to improve on Brain White matter, temporary Hearing Aid for couple of months to stimulate Brain auditory nerve cells and Speech Therapy. All the mentioned steps will be primarily to stimulate his sensory system for Cochlear Implantation which is the only way for infants with Profound hearing loss to hear and become normal kids over a period of time.
Cochlear Implant is a life-long implantation where-in the complete inner ear arrangement is bypassed and the device simulates the function of ear. In Tunisia, this surgery falls in the most expensive category and overall package for Device, surgery and hospitalization charges will comes around 25 000$ for bilateral cases. My Insurance has declined to cover up the Cochlear device.
Our minimal savings has already been exhausted in numerous doctor consultations, tests, Hearing-Aids, Speech therapy and Physiotherapy and we are not in a position to handle the Cochlear Implant expenses. Much more expenses will happen post-surgery for ongoing device maintenance and battery expenses and more tests to confirm that Youssef’s body has accepted the device.
I sincerely hope that Kind-hearted souls will help and support Youssef in these tough times and provide some financial assistance so that I am able to get the surgery/Implant done as soon as possible. I request you to please extend the generosity since already my Youssef’s language and sensory development has delayed a lot as per his age and more delay will make the situation even more critical for him to come to speed with his development milestones.
